- It's all magic
- Yeah. Yeah. Just show me what to do already
- Some very important things to remember
Step 1) Go to www.BitComet.com and download their torrent program. It’s free and installs just as easily as any simple windows program. There are many programs like this one available and any will work. BitComet just happens to be my personal favorite.
Step 2) Once you have that installed, then head over to www.ThePirateBay.org. Again, there are several sites like this that will work just as well.
Step 3) On the front page, you will see a search bar. Enter the search criteria of whatever it is you are searching for. You will be provided a list of search results.

In this example, the top file would be the best download option
Step 4) Here’s the tricky part. In the search results, other than the file name, there are three key columns: File Size, Seeders (SE), and Leechers (LE). I’m sure you know what file size is, but what do farmers and lawyers have to do with anything?
- Seeders – This is the number of people from whom you will be able to download this particular file. They are “seeding” the file.
- Leechers – This is the number of people who are currently downloading from the available seeders. They are “leeching” the files
These numbers are important to remember because they will give you a clue about how fast your download will be. If there are 100 seeders and 9,524,904,584 leechers, it’s safe to say that the seeders will be pretty busy uploading to everyone else. In general, the more seeders and the less leechers, the better.
Generally, the fastest way to find the best download option is to click on the “SE” column header to order the results by the number of seeders.
Step 5) Click on the name of the file you will be downloading. This will open the file information page.
Step 6) Click the either of the green “Download Torrent” links. Note: I usually download this to the desktop so I don’t have to hunt the file down and can promptly delete the file after I’m done. Do this by right clicking on the link and selecting “Save Target As”.
Step 7) Double click the torrent file you downloaded. If you are using BitComet, a “Task Properties” window will appear. You can ignore everything on it and click “Download Now”.
Finally) Go make a sandwich or do some work or something. This download process is used for very large files. Even though you’re downloading from several sources at once, it will still take a bit of time. When it is done, they will be in your C:\Downloads folder.
